Studio Policies
Payments:
-
Lesson fees must be paid in advance, on the 1st of each month. Payments are to be made via e-transfer.
-
Invoices are due by the 1st of each month. Payments received after this date will incur a $15 late fee.
-
Specific book referrals will be given to the student/parent with direction and assistance for purchasing, or the books will be purchased (after consultation with the parent) on behalf of the parent after which the parent will pay for the purchase.
-
Costs for books, sheet music, or other materials will be added to your account. Please ensure all materials are stored in a binder or folder to keep them organized.
Scheduling:
-
Lessons are scheduled weekly and will continue as planned on PA Days. Statutory Holidays are observed, and no lessons will take place on those dates.
-
Reserved lesson times are exclusive to each student. If you arrive late, the lesson will end at the scheduled time, as additional time cannot always be accommodated.
Arrival
-
Students are expected to arrive a few minutes before the lesson (no more than 5) and should be picked up promptly at the end of their lesson.
Absences
-
To cancel a lesson, please provide at least 48 hours' notice whenever possible.
-
If a student is sick, notify the teacher as soon as possible. Please do not show up to a lesson if you are not feeling well!
-
For the safety of all, the teacher reserves the right to cancel or end in-person lessons if a student appears unwell.
-
Missed lessons can sometimes be rescheduled, provided sufficient notice is given (at least 48 hours), and the lesson is rescheduled by the end of the month. Rescheduling is subject to the teacher’s availability. If a date cannot be agreed-upon between the teacher and student, the lesson may be refunded (if 48 hours' notice was given), or the lesson may be forfieted (if 48 hours' notice was not given).
-
Missed lessons without 48 hours' notice will not be refunded unless exceptional circumstances apply. Illness or emergencies may be considered with prior discussion.
-
Absences may result in a forfeited lesson with no refund if 48 hours' advanced notice is not given.
-
In the event the instructor cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be offered and if it cannot be rescheduled, will be refunded.
⭐Please respect the fact that I have reserved a weekly time for your lesson and I cannot always make up a missed lesson.
⭐Each student’s time slot is reserved, and it cannot be filled by another student on short notice.
Online Lesson Option
-
If a student feels unwell, but is able to participate, lessons can be conducted online through Zoom.
Permanent Schedule Changes:
-
If your current lesson day or time no longer works, please let me know.
-
I will do my best to accommodate a permanent schedule change, but adjustments partway through the year cannot be guaranteed.
Discontinuing Lessons:
-
A minimum of one month’s notice is required to discontinue lessons. Any unpaid fees must be settled, and refunds will not be issued for unused lessons.
Teacher's Right to Discontinue Lessons:
-
The teacher reserves the right to discontinue lessons if:
-
A student misses three consecutive lessons without 48 hours' advanced notice (special circumstances may be accommodated)
-
Payments are not received on time.
-
Practice expectations are not met.
-
There is persistent negativity or lack of cooperation from the student or their guardians.
-
Practice:
-
Students are required to practice at home between lessons. Daily practice is vital to musical progress. The recommended amount of practice time will be discussed with the student depending on their age and skill level.
-
Students should have a notebook (or a duotange with lined pages) that can be used for writing down homework and practice suggestions each week.
Etiquette:
-
Students must respect others’ property, including the teacher’s home/studio, instrument and teaching tools.
-
Students are to wait in the designated waiting area only.
-
Rude behaviour or coarse language will not be tolerated and may result in the termination of lessons.
-
Should students arrive during another lesson, or if they are waiting for their sibling to finish their lesson, they are expected to wait for their time quietly so as not to disturb other students.
Thank you so much for your understanding!
